Medical Evacuation Insurance

What is Travel MedEvac?

  • A stand-alone medical transport policy – ‘Real Insurance’ that gets your client to their home hospital and not limited to Nearest Adequate Facility
  • Return to your client’s hospital, healthcare network, physicians and back to their family
  • Coverage anytime your client is traveling 150+ miles from home (most US residents), regardless of the type of illness or injury, when hospitalized and a transport is warranted
  • All logistics and arrangements are provided at time of critical need, including hospital to airfield ground transportation on both ends

Why Travel MedEvac?

  • Protect your client’s finances and health
  • 1 in 13 will go to the hospital each year
  • Medical evacuation can cost $50,000 to $150,000 with payment required upfront

Exceptional Travel MedEvac Coverages

  • Air medical transport when hospitalized and needing a higher level of care
  • Transport of traveling companion and/or family member
  • Visitor transportation
  • Vehicle return – auto, RV, motorcycle or vessel
  • Mortal remains return
  • $500,000 policy limit

New NAIC Travel Insurance Model Act

  • The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) approved a new Travel Insurance Model Act, which classifies “emergency evacuation” and “repatriation” as insurance coverage.
  • Several states have adopted by statute. It’s anticipated that as many as half the states may adopt by the end of 2020.
  • Many medical evacuation plans in the marketplace are membership/subscription programs, not true insurance.
  • As ‘Real Insurance’ Travel MedEvac is compliant with the provisions of the new NAIC Model Act.

Competitive Advantages of Travel MedEvac

  • A REGULATED / NAIC COMPLIANT PRODUCT underwritten by Nationwide Mutual Insurance, an A+ rated carrier
